Professor Charles Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the November 6, 2021, governorship election on Monday slammed Senator Emmanuel Andy Uba, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Soludo claimed that Uba, who was a close confidant of the then President, Olusegun Obasanjo, was a domestic staff in the Aso Villa, cleaning the former President’s shoes.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) made the comments while speaking on his relationship with Uba during the Anambra governorship election debate organised by Arise TV.

He said, “I know Andy was a Masseur in the U.S.

“He was a domestic staff in the Villa, who cleans the President’s shoes.

“If throwing up my name gives Andy Uba a CV, then I will concede that to him.”

Soludo also said that Uba begged him to join the APC.

In the same breath, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Anambra elections, Andy Uba has said he made Professor Charles Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria during the tenure of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo

Andy Uba, a sitting Senator and a former confidant of Obasanjo, made the claims during the Anambra election debate organised by Arise TV and Enough is Enough on Monday.

During the debate, Andy Uba slammed Soludo, accusing him of being ungrateful after he allegedly recommended him to Obasanjo for an appointment for the post of CBN Governor.

He said that despite Obasanjo referencing him as the reason for Soludo’s appointment when some traditional rulers came to the Villa on a thank-you visit, Soludo never showed the needed appreciation

He was quoted as saying, “When he (Soludo) became the CBN Governor, he came to my house to say thank you.

“Also, when five Igwes [traditional rulers] came to thank the President after the appointment, he [Obasanjo] told them to go thank me instead.”

But Soludo maintained that he never knew Andy Uba until former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili introduced them at the Presidential villa.

Anambra gubernatorial election holds on November 6th 2021, with the frontline candidates being Andy Uba for the APC, Professor Charles Soludo for APGA and Valentine Ozigbo for the PDP.

Meanwhile, the Anambra governorship election is scheduled to hold on November 6.
