Adelani Adepegba, Abuja

The police have commenced a manhunt for miscreants, who set ablaze an ambulance belonging to the Federal Road Safety Corps in Abuja.

The men reportedly attacked the FRSC post at Giri, a major intersection on the Abuja-Lokoja highway, and set the ambulance ablaze.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a mob attacked the FRSC post for allegedly failing to respond to distress calls in respect of an accident where four persons died.

The mob was said to have hurled missiles at the FRSC officers, after which they set the commission’s ambulance on fire.

The FRSC Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the incident, adding that it had been reported to the police for investigation.

A police source said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the miscreants behind the attack, assuring that they would soon be arrested.

When contacted, the Federal Capital Territory Police spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, said he was not aware of the incident as he had not been briefed.
