Governor of Benue state and gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Mr. Samuel Ortom, is already having a clear lead over his APC counterpart, Mr. Emmanuel Jime, from the results so far collated and officially announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Makurdi.

INEC had yesterday conducted a rerun in twenty two local government areas of the state after declaring the March 9 election where the governor led with a little above 81,000 votes inconclusive.

From the official results so far declared in 16 out of the 22 affected local governments by INEC at the Collation Center in Makurdi, Governor Ortom had polled 11,166 votes while Honourable Jime of the APC polled 6,420.

The sixteen local governments INEC has declared results are Gboko, Gwer East, Oju, Ukum, Ohimini, Buruku, Kwande, Logo, Gwer West, Agatu, Ogbadibo, Apa, Otukpo, Tarka, Makurdi and Ushongo.

Ortom is already leading with 4,746 votes apart from the outstanding 81,000 + votes.

However, the INEC has adjourned collations and announcement of results from Ado, Vandeikya, konshisha, Guma, Obi and Okpokwu local governments till 10am today.

But unofficial results from these six local governments show that Governor Ortom may be declared winner of the Benue state governorship election by the electoral umpire today.
