FAKE EMERGENCY NUMBERS RELEASED AS ABUJA RESIDENTS GROPE FOR HELP OVER INSECURITY, SEE FULL LIST

Police in the Federal Capital Territory have urged residents to disregard emergency numbers purportedly sent from the command, noting that such numbers are fake or not released officially by the command.

Checks by LEADERSHIP Sunday showed that calls to some of the numbers were not connecting, while others were picked by some individuals who said the numbers were not for police emergency.

Also, a few of the numbers were found to belong to some police officers who are no longer serving at the stations and claimed that the numbers are private.

A call to one of the numbers, 08038485123 purported to be for Maitama rang and nobody picked it.
For Central Police Station, a call was put to 08033568389, one Richard picked and told LEADERSHIP that it was his personal number and not a police emergency number.

He also said so many people had been calling and disturbing him since the number started circulating on line.
For Lugbe, with 08037882321; National Assembly, with 08045317637; Robochi, with 08060568342; Gwagwalada, with 08057467369 and Abaji with 08037209328; the phone rang but no one picked the calls.

Another number, 08065777706 to the National Assembly was discovered to be a private number of one Kene who said it was not officially for police emergency.

For Wuse, with 08053088102, the number was found to be invalid, while Wuye with 08023314440 and Garki with 08033560903 belonged to private citizens.

Asokoro, with 07028134449; Karshi, with 08023565354; Nyanya, with 08046115181; Utako, with 07055888119; Karu, with 08036249825; Kubwa with 08036134478; Gwarimpa, with 08059113555; Karmo, with 08033773129; Dutsen Alhaji, with 08053089999 and Kwali with 08033062496; were not reachable and the numbers are recorded against the station names.

For Gwagwa, the number, 08035537989 was recorded to a private citizen named Okokon and Zuba had 08075804475 as well as Bwari, which is the private number of a former Bwari DPO.
Kuje also had 07030800531, the private number of its former DPO.

Life Camp also 08058036613, which is the number of Life camp former DPO, who told LEADERSHIP he had left the station years ago and cannot be called for emergency.

Reacting to the numbers in circulation, the spokesperson, FCT command, ASP Yusuf Mariam, said the only official channel of communication to the command remained 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653,08028940883 which are all control room numbers available always and to report the conduct of police officers, residents can call the Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) number : 09022222352
