3 WISE MEN CAN NO LONGER CONTROL THE FUTURE OF CROSS RIVER STATE, SAYS APC CHIEFTAIN

The triumvirate, namely two former Governors of Cross River State, Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke as well as a serving Senator, Gershom Bassey, who reportedly control the political destiny of Cross River State since 1999 can no longer do so, according to a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr.Edem Okokon Effiom.

Effiom, who is also Commissioner for Rural Transformation in the state, also said that the coming of Governor Ben Ayade as an APC leader has redeemed the state from political slavery under the triumvirate.

In an interview with newsmen, Effion said that Ayade has opened up a new vista into politics in the State, but that those who are used to the status quo will always criticize him.

Noting that change is the only thing that is constant, he maintained that Ayade has shown that the state can actually embrace change.

“In times past, we used to have the three wise men from 1999. They controlled both our political socio economic destinies.

“As a people, we have always depended on them for political directions. But when Professor Ben Ayade came on board, he said we can not put our political faith in the hands of a few to determine our political directions all the time.

“He has taken us out of political slavery and made us to be politically independence”, he said.

On the question not rotation of governorship in. 2023, Effiom said “for natural justice, for equity and fairness we should look at what unifies us and not what divides us as a people”.
